Welcome to our new series of micro-interviews, in which we ask a fascinating data person a single question about modern data teamwork.

Here’s what we asked Gregory Piatetsky-Shapiro, president of KDnuggets.

How can less-technical stakeholders contribute major value to data projects?

The most important part of Data Science, in my opinion, is not selection of latest Machine Learning algorithm (although this is a lot of fun), but finding the right questions to ask. Here is where the subject experts, business people, and others who are not Data Scientists can contribute — by helping to formulate the right questions that Data Scientists can answer with their tools.

There is a Data Science saying that “Better Data beats better algorithms”, and I want to add that “Better question beats better data” .

How will you foster collaboration between technical and business stakeholders in your data projects? One way is to use data.world as your productive, secure platform for modern data teamwork. Learn how others collaborate in data.world here.
