I may not be a skier, but Snowflake’s winter themes always tempt me to try it out. Certainly, I can’t imagine there would be any less excitement in the crowd on the slopes than there was at 2025’s Snowflake Summit in San Francisco. 557 sessions, hackathons, mini events and socials spread across an entire week, and my head is just spinning from scrolling back through the agenda.
That being said, the data.world team showed up in full force, ready to shred with the best. With two floor spots, an Honest No BS dinner, Women in Data Social, and a launch of our Data Marketplace to demo, we kept busy.
Of those 557 events I mentioned before? 243(44%) were related to AI, surprising almost no one. It’s been dominating the talk tracks for Summits before now and it likely will continue into the future. What stuck out were the topics of how to realistically scale and realize value from AI as well as use cases for AI as an efficiency multiplier. Our attention though was more on the considerable talk both in and out of sessions about market consolidation. Mergers and acquisitions have been a regular occurrence both among AI companies as well as in the data and analytics industry. At this point, the need for AI ready data is ,required step in creating a scalable model.
Of course, the recent announcement of ServiceNow’s planned acquisition of data.world, was met with excitement and curiosity at Summit, with people eager to learn more about what the future holds for the Data and Analytics (“D&A”) space.
We came ready with our tagline, “Turning data chaos into clarity” and demos of how we can accomplish this with our recent Archie Chat tool and our new Data Marketplace which is aimed to be in Public preview in July. The team also onsite with a coffee stand, supplying the nectar of life for conference attendees and also took over one of the blizzard booths, a long time Summit staple. We don’t have to wonder how much people enjoyed them, the lines spoke for themselves like they were waiting for a ski lift.
Tim Gasper and Juan Sequeda hosted one of their famous Honest No BS Dinners, a place for people to discuss the topics most relevant to them, rather than having to spend dinner fending off sales people while trying to spear the last brussel sprout. But one of our proudest events came in the form of a networking event for Women in Data hosted by us, Hakkoda and Bigeye with guest speakers from IBM Federal and Okta. The event highlighted not only our panelists’ experiences as women in the field, but also in how they are changing and shaping the dynamics of their fields during their personal journeys. While my Y chromosome and baldness were not in the room, the feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. I hope we get to see more events like these in the future.
Just like the slopes, all blogs have to come to an end even if I could just keep going and going. Though like the mountain, it would be a downhill experience. So instead I’ll leave you wanting more. If you are interested in hearing more about our thoughts on Summit or getting a demo of some of the great products we showed off there, head over to our website and book some time with one of our team members. You can also check out more Honest no BS content from Juan and Tim on their podcast, “Catalogs and Cocktails.” They just wrapped up the 9th season so it’s a great time to get caught up. Until next time, keep shredding!
