[SAN FRANCISCO], [JUNE 4, 2024] — data.world today announced at Snowflake’s annual user conference, Snowflake Data Cloud Summit 2024, that it has launched the data.world Plug-In Snowflake Native App in Snowflake Marketplace. The data.world Plug-in provides enhanced AI capabilities and robust governance natively within joint customers’ Snowflake accounts.
“By exposing data.world’s catalog and AI context engine capabilities as a Snowflake Native App in Snowflake Marketplace, we’re empowering our joint customers to unleash a new kind of enterprise intelligence,” said Jon Loyens, Chief Data & Strategy Officer at data.world. “Now, building generative AI applications in your Snowflake environment for trusted answers and unmatched speed has never been easier.”
Data.world and Snowflake are working together to mobilize the world’s data with Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud, helping joint customers unlock the value of their data. The plug-in integrates company-specific knowledge through the AI Context EngineTM to ensure responses are precise and tailored, revealing the paths and sources used to arrive at answers. This level of explainability can be likened to providing a clear lineage for AI, a win for fostering transparency and trust. The integration comes at a critical time as organizations look to get a more significant and faster value from their AI investments while keeping their data secure.
“Trust plays a pivotal role in the successful deployment and adoption of generative AI applications,” said Prasanna Krishnan, Head of Collaboration and Horizon, Snowflake. “Our partnership with data.world helps address this concern. By securely integrating the data.world’s AI Context EngineTM with their data in Snowflake, joint customers can achieve more accurate, explainable responses. This empowers organizations to confidently build GenAI applications on their data in Snowflake.”
As a Snowflake Native App, the data.world Plug-in enables customers to deliver accurate, explainable, and governed AI within their Snowflake account where their data already resides. “Snowflake and data.world together are helping us achieve on our enterprise data & AI vision,” said Vip Parmar, Global Head of Data Management at WPP. “Being able to purchase the solution through the Snowflake Marketplace Capacity Drawdown makes the procurement process very straightforward and frictionless.”
Using the combined capabilities of Snowflake Native App Framework and Snowpark Container Services (integration in public preview), developers can build sophisticated applications that run on a range of configurable hardware options, including GPUs, distribute and monetize them on Snowflake Marketplace, and deploy them within their customers’ Snowflake accounts, without requiring data movement.
